Born in 1274, Robert Bruce began his reign after the death of John Comyn, who was also claiming the Scottish throne. The ensuing power struggle, known as the 'Great Cause,' was a significant turning point in Scottish history. Robert Bruce is often depicted in historical accounts as a heroic figure, having led Scotland to victory against the English at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
