Isabeau, born in 1370, was the daughter of Stephen III, Duke of Bavaria, and Taddea Visconti of Milan. She came to France in 1385 to marry the future King Charles VI, who was then only 12 years old. Her influence extended beyond the French court, as she was also a patron of the arts and supported the renowned painter Jan van Eyck.
