The Salop Seller is shown in the midst of London's bustling streets, offering passers-by traditional English treats: gingerbread and Salop, or Saloop, a wholesome beverage made from the root of the sassafras tree, served with milk and sugar. The Salop Seller's cart is laden with an array of gingerbread, from small, intricately decorated biscuits to larger, more rustic loaves.
