EDITORS COMMENTS
This image portrays Pauline-Marie Jaricot (1799-1862), a remarkable French lady who lived during a time of profound religious and political upheaval. Born in Lyon, France, in 1799, Pauline experienced a miraculous healing through the intercession of Saint Philomena. The details of this healing event remain shrouded in mystery, but it is believed that Pauline was cured of a debilitating illness after praying to Saint Philomena. Following her miraculous experience, Pauline felt a deep calling to spread the word of God to the far reaches of the world. In 1822, she founded La Propagation de la Foi (Propagation of the Faith), an organization dedicated to supporting foreign missions and spreading the Catholic faith. Pauline's tireless efforts led to the establishment of numerous missions in Asia, Africa, and South America. The success of La Propagation de la Foi can be attributed to Pauline's unwavering dedication and her innovative approach to fundraising. She introduced the concept of "Missions de Famille" (Family Missions), encouraging families to make small weekly contributions to support the missions. This grassroots approach proved highly effective, and the organization grew rapidly. Pauline-Marie Jaricot's legacy continues to inspire and influence the Catholic Church to this day. Her unwavering faith, courage, and determination in the face of adversity serve as a testament to the power of prayer and the importance of spreading the word of God to all corners of the world. This image captures the essence of Pauline's spirit and her enduring impact on the history of the Church.
