Charles-Henri-Joseph Cordier Collection

Charles-Henri-Joseph Cordier (1827–1905) was a French sculptor and medallist who worked in the Romantic style. He is best known for his large-scale public monuments, such as the Fountain of Apollo at the Louvre and the Monument to General Faidherbe at Lille. His smaller works include portrait busts, medals, and statuettes of animals. He also created religious sculptures such as Stations of the Cross for churches in France. Cordier was a prolific artist who exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1851 until his death in 1905. He won numerous awards during his lifetime, including a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle in Paris. His works can be found in museums around Europe, including The Louvre and The Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
