Players Navy Cut Medium tobacco rectangular counter card. To the left of the card is a pack of Medium tobacco. There is an adhesive pad attached to the front of the card and the surface is slightly damaged. The text on the card reads " THE ORIGINAL // PLAYERs // MEDIUM NAVY CUT // Rubbed Ready for Smoking // 1/- Ounce. // BUY A PACKET TO-DAY.". On the reverse is a support to allow the card to stand upright and a hanging loop. There is also a very faded label which appears to be from Mardons

EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage print showcases a piece of history from 1926 - a rectangular counter card advertising the iconic "Navy Cut Medium" tobacco by Players. The card is slightly worn, with a damaged surface and an adhesive pad attached to its front. On the card, the text proudly proclaims "THE ORIGINAL // PLAYERs // MEDIUM NAVY CUT // Rubbed Ready for Smoking // 1/- Ounce. // BUY A PACKET TO-DAY". This image also reveals a pack of Medium tobacco placed next to the card. Turning it over, we find that this unique item comes with a support allowing it to stand upright and even features a hanging loop for display purposes. Additionally, there is an intriguing but faded label which appears to be from Mardons - another name associated with advertising in Nottingham during that era. This photograph not only captures the essence of early 20th-century advertising but also serves as a testament to Nottingham's rich heritage in tobacco production, particularly through John Player and Sons. It offers us glimpses into how products were marketed back then and invites us to appreciate the craftsmanship involved in creating such promotional materials
