This evocative photograph captures the ruins of Government House in Nicosia, Cyprus, following the destructive fire that engulfed the building on the night of 21 October 1931. The fire was the culmination of a massive demonstration by approximately 5,000 supporters of Enosis, the movement advocating for the union of Cyprus with Greece.
