Midget Miracle Morris Worlds Gest Theatrical

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph captures the magic and wonder of the Little Miracle Town exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Located in the "World of Small Folk" pavilion, Little Miracle Town showcased the extraordinary talents of the world's greatest midget artistes. At the heart of this miniature village was Morris Gest, a Jewish-American theatrical producer who became a pioneer in promoting and managing the careers of little people in the entertainment industry. Gest, who managed the Little People's Pavilion during the fair, is seen here overseeing the production with a watchful eye. The Little Miracle Town exhibit was a popular attraction, drawing large crowds of visitors who were amazed by the tiny houses, gardens, and shops, as well as the performances by the midget artistes. The village included a school, a fire station, a bakery, and even a working carousel. The midget artistes performed various acts, including acrobatics, music, and comedy. They delighted audiences with their unique abilities and small-scale replicas of larger-than-life performances. The exhibit was a testament to the determination and creativity of these performers, who overcame their physical limitations to entertain and inspire. This photograph offers a glimpse into a time when the New York World's Fair was a symbol of innovation and progress, and when the world came together to marvel at the wonders of science, technology, and human spirit. The Little Miracle Town exhibit was a reminder that no matter how small we may seem, we all have the power to make a big impact.
