Kyle of Lochalsh, LMSR poster, 1930s

Poster produced for London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMSR) to promote train services to Kyle of Lochalsh in the Highlands. The poster shows a view from Skye across the Kyle to Lochalsh Hotel with a MacBraynes steamer on the Loch. The text beneath promotes the region, MacBraynes steamers and the LMS Lochalsh Hotel. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson, who studied art at Portsmouth and Southsea Schools of Art. A famous marine painter, he designed posters for the London & North Western Railway (LNWR), the London & Midlands Railway (LMR) and Southern Railway (SR) and organised the Royal Academy series of posters for the London & Midlands Railway (LMR) in 1924. The Booklovers Britain: The Trossachs, LNER poster, 1927

Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway to promote rail travel to The Trossachs in the Scottish Highlands. The poster promotes the area in connection with the clansman and outlaw, Rob Roy Macgregor (1671-1734). The image shows Macgregor's men preparing to ambush the military, beside Loch Katrine. Artwork by Austin Cooper, a Canadian who studied art in Cardiff and Arbroath. He began his career as a commercial artist in Montreal, but returned to London in 1922 and designed posters for LNER, Indian State Railways and London Transport. His first show was held at the London Gallery in 1948. Dimensions: 1016 mm x 635 mm

Poster produced for Londom, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) and London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. The poster shows a view of Inverness, with the sunset reflected in the waters of the River Ness. A funnel of smoke from a steam train is visible in the distance. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson, who studied art at Portsmouth and Southsea Schools of Art. A famous marine painter, he designed posters for the London & North Western Railway (LNWR), the London & Midlands Railway (LMR) and Southern Railway (SR) and organised the Royal Academy series of posters for the London & Midlands Railway (LMR) in 1924.
