The Flying Scotsman hauled by an A1 class 4-6-2 locomotive number 4472 Flying Scotsman at Hadley Wood, 17 December 1944. The Flying Scotsman train left London Kings Cross every morning at 10.00 am and arrived in Edinburgh around 7 hours later. The train offered a range of facilities on board. It was often hauled by the locomotive of the same name
