Poster produced for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS), promoting rail travel to Scotland, showing a stylised aerial view of the country, its natural landmarks (including the Grampian Mountains) and coastline. Rail and road connections to Scottish towns are also included in this birds-eye view. Artwork by Montague Birrell Black (b 1884). Printed by McCorquodale & Co Ltd, Glasgow and London. 'Sea, Sunshine and Sport: Lytham St Annes', LMS poster, 1923-1947

Poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) to promote rail travel to Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. The poster shows a woman in riding clothes and red beret on a horse on sands. Sea and Pier in background. Artwork by Charles Pears, a marine painter in oil who was an Official Naval Artist during the World Wars. He worked as a poster artist for rail companies and other clients and was also a book illustrator. Printer: Charles and Reed Ltd. London.
