Music cover for Valse a Deux Tems (Temps)

Music cover for Valse a Deux Tems (or Temps), meaning Waltz in Two Beats or Two-Step Waltz, a popular style of waltz in the mid-19th century, in which every three-beat bar contained just two dance steps. The dance, which originated in Russia and then became known in France, began with a glissade on the first beat and a chassee on beats two and three, with further complications in the following bar. It is a quick dance, therefore the steps should be short, and the knees slightly bent. Collisions were, apparently, frequent. The cover design shows an elegant young lady in her ball gown, out of doors, taking a rest from the dancing. She is holding a small envelope in her hand -- perhaps a billet doux

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step into the enchanting world of the 1850s with this cover for Valse a Deux Tems, a popular waltz style of the mid-19th century. The elegant young lady in this image takes a moment's respite from the lively dance, her slim figure clad in a beautiful grey gown adorned with intricate lace and pearls. Her waist is cinched with a satin sash, and she accessorizes with delicate bracelets, a necklace, and a fan. The scene unfolds on a balcony, with the soft glow of the moon casting a gentle light on the scene. A curtain flutters in the background, adding to the romantic ambiance. The quick tempo of the waltz, with its two-beat bars, is reflected in the lady's poised stance - her knees slightly bent and her steps short and precise. Despite the dance's name, collisions were apparently common, making this moment of rest all the more cherished. The lady holds a small, lacy envelope in her hand, perhaps a billet doux, or love letter, adding an air of mystery and intrigue to the scene. This cover design is a stunning representation of the fashion and style of the era, with its attention to detail and elegant use of color. The tassels on the envelope and the hem of the gown, the cloud-like patterns on the lady's bracelets, and the intricate lace on her neckline all contribute to the overall beauty and charm of the image. Step back in time and lose yourself in the history and romance of the 19th century with this exquisite cover design for Valse a Deux Tems.
