Saiga Collection

The saiga (Saiga tatarica) is a critically endangered species of antelope found in the steppes and semi-deserts of Central Asia and has a distinctive, bulbous nose and long, curved horns. The saiga is an important species for its role in maintaining the balance of its ecosystem. It feeds on grasses, herbs, shrubs and lichens which helps to keep vegetation short and open up areas for other animals to graze and are important prey species for large predators such as wolves and foxes. In recent years their population has declined drastically due to poaching, habitat loss and disease outbreaks caused by climate change. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this unique animal from extinction but it will require international cooperation if we are to save it from disappearing forever.
