Among the enemy aircraft brought down during an early morning raid son the much bombed harbour of Naples, Southern Italy was a JU 88 bomber plane of the German Luftwaffe. Investigation suggested that it was shot down by a light ground ack-ack gun, operated by the RAF Regiment.
The regiment, which was was solely used for the defence of airfields
at one time, is now taking its share of the defence of other vital areas.
