EDITORS COMMENTS
The 28th November marks a significant day in Albanian history as it is celebrated as Independence Day. This print captures the momentous occasion that took place 32 years ago, when the Albanian people were finally freed from Turkish rule. It was not only a liberation from German control but also a declaration of independence for Albania. The picture showcases the grand parade held in Tirana, the capital city, which was newly built by the Italians. The 1st Corps of Partisans marched past a saluting base while Halifax planes of the Royal Air Force (RAF) flew low overhead in salute to Albania's newfound freedom. What makes this event even more remarkable is that military representatives from Russia, Britain, America, and Yugoslavia were present at the saluting base. Their presence symbolized international support and solidarity with Albania on this joyous day. This image serves as a reminder of the bravery and resilience displayed by the Albanian people during World War II. It represents their struggle for independence and their determination to build a brighter future. As we commemorate this historic anniversary through Memory Lane Prints' collection, let us honor those who fought for Albania's freedom and celebrate their triumph over adversity.
