Capturing the Spirit of Innovation: The De-compression Maternity Suit". In this photo print, we witness a remarkable moment in medical history as Mrs. Linda Evans proudly showcases her eight-week-old baby, Catherine, while wearing the groundbreaking De-compression Maternity Suit. With Joanne (23 months) and Rupert (4 years) attentively watching on, Linda's husband Neil Evans meticulously adjusts the suit's vacuum inlet. This experimental suit, still in its pioneer stage back on 21st April 1967, was ingeniously crafted by engineer Neil Evans using everyday household items such as a domestic vacuum cleaner, cycle wheel runs, dress zips, elastic trouser supports, and a length of plastic. Its purpose? To alleviate pressure off the womb during pregnancy and enhance foetal oxygenation with hopes of nurturing highly intelligent children.
