In this distinguished artwork, we witness the convergence of cultures as renowned artist Prof Pammi Lall and Vayu Naidu, from Leeds University's Workshop Theatre, come together at the Easthorpe Gallery in Mirfield. Accompanied by pupils from Roberttown Junior and Infant School, they embark on an artistic journey that transcends boundaries. Prof. Lall, hailing from Benares Hindu University in India where he serves as dean of the faculty of fine art, graces Kirklees education department as their esteemed artist in residence for the month. At the heart of his work lies a picture that encapsulates a rare moment of tranquillity experienced by revered figures in the Ramayana—an ancient Hindu epic. Preserved within this photograph are memories that evoke nostalgia for "all our yesterdays". It serves as a reminder that art has no boundaries—it is universal and timeless—continuously weaving threads between past, present, and future generations.
