EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we see a group of 66 enthusiastic pupils from South Crosland Junior School proudly displaying their impressive collection of paper. This remarkable feat was accomplished as part of an inspiring environmental project focused on the preservation of natural resources. Motivated by curiosity and a desire to make a difference, these young learners embarked on a mission to discover just how much paper their families discard in a single week. Led by the dedicated Mrs Linda Bulloch, employed by the Manpower Service Commission for Keep Britain Tidy campaign, these students became champions for recycling and sustainability. Captured in October 1985, this snapshot transports us back to an era where environmental issues were gaining momentum. These children symbolize hope and determination as they actively contribute towards building a greener future. The image showcases not only the power of education but also highlights the importance of instilling eco-consciousness at an early age. Through projects like these, schools play a vital role in shaping responsible citizens who understand the significance of preserving our planet's precious resources. This nostalgic photograph serves as a reminder that even small actions can have significant impacts when multiplied across communities. It is heartening to witness these bright minds taking charge and leading by example – proving that change begins with each one of us.
