The money was raised when some 30 children from the two groups took part in a sponsored walk around the grounds of Crosland Hill Methodist Church, where they meet. A cake stall and tombola were organised to boost the proceeds and cream teas were served. The presentation was held at the church, when Mr Smith gave a talk and showed a film on the work of the NSPCC. 16th September 1986

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we see four-year-old Emily Sylvester proudly presenting a £300 cheque to Mr Russell Smith, the regional organiser of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). The generous donation was raised through a sponsored walk organized by Crosland Hill Playgroup and Mother and Toddler Club, involving around 30 children. The event took place in the beautiful grounds of Crosland Hill Methodist Church, where both groups regularly gather. To further boost their fundraising efforts, a delightful cake stall and tombola were set up, while cream teas were served to keep everyone energized. The presentation ceremony itself was held at the church, providing an ideal setting for Mr Smith to deliver an enlightening talk on the crucial work carried out by NSPCC. As part of his presentation, he also screened a touching film that shed light on the organization's mission. This snapshot from September 16th, 1986 captures not only a momentous occasion but also showcases the compassion and dedication exhibited by young Emily Sylvester and her fellow participants. Their commitment to helping vulnerable children is truly commendable and serves as an inspiration for all generations. This photograph is a testament to how communities can come together in support of important causes like child protection.
