EDITORS COMMENTS
Traveling Back in Time: A Day of Learning and Fun at Upper Whitley School". This print takes us back to the 10th of July, 1989, when pupils, parents, and friends of Upper Whitley School in Grange Moor embarked on a remarkable journey to Clarke Hall in Wakefield. Led by their beloved teacher Mrs. Cath Gledhill, this group of enthusiastic five to eight-year-olds spent an entire day immersing themselves in the wonders of the 17th century. As they stepped into the working museum, these young learners were transported back in time. From butter making to corn grinding and herb collecting, each activity allowed them to experience firsthand how people lived centuries ago. The air was filled with excitement as children tried their hand at weaving and spinning while others joyfully sang and danced along. Dressed impeccably in traditional clothing that mirrored the era they were exploring, these schoolchildren truly embraced all aspects of this educational trip. Their smiles radiated pure delight as they absorbed every moment spent within those historic walls. This snapshot from our yesterdays serves as a testament to the power of experiential learning and highlights the importance of preserving our cultural heritage for future generations. Let it remind us that education is not confined solely within classroom walls but can be found anywhere we choose to explore – even if it means taking a step back in time.
