EDITORS COMMENTS
Capturing the Halloween spirit at Middlesbrough's Dorman Museum in 1993, this print takes us back to a time when spooky things were brewing. Children from all over Teesside eagerly gathered for a day of festive preparations, face painting, and craft-making. Two young girls, Zoe Spriggs and Elizabeth Hopkin, both aged 8, embraced the occasion with their beautifully painted faces. In an era before digital distractions took over, these youngsters reveled in the joy of hands-on activities that celebrated age-old traditions. With spiders crawling up their arms and bats soaring above their heads, they proudly showcased their homemade witches hats - each one uniquely crafted with care. The atmosphere was electric as laughter filled the air amidst whispers of ghost stories and tales of haunted houses. The event brought together children from different corners of England who shared a common love for Halloween customs. It was a reminder that despite our differences, we can come together to celebrate our shared heritage. This nostalgic snapshot captures not just the innocence and excitement of childhood but also serves as a testament to the enduring power of tradition. As we look back on this moment frozen in time, it reminds us that some things never change - like the magic that comes alive during Halloween night.
