Youngsters raised £100 from a sponsored 24-hour-sing-in at Cubbington Methodist
Youngsters raised £ 100 from a sponsored 24-hour-sing-in at Cubbington Methodist Church despite a casualty. One singer, Simon Poole had to leave after an hour due to an earlier head injury during a rugby match. Armed with fruit pastilles for themselves and embrocation for the pianists, more than 50 members of the youth club joined the sing-in. Some sang through the night and were joined by others during the day. They sang 150 hymns from the Methodist hymn book but changed over to pop songs as it got a bit too much. At the end of the 24 hours Mr Wesley, youth club general secretary, estimated that the group would have sang all 900 hymns in the Methodist hymn book.

Capturing the Spirit of Youth - Youngsters Raise £100 in 24-Hour Sing-In
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this heartwarming photo print, we witness the incredible determination and resilience of a group of young individuals from Cubbington Methodist Church. Despite facing an unexpected casualty, their unwavering spirit prevailed as they raised £100 through a sponsored 24-hour sing-in. The event was organized by more than 50 members of the youth club, armed with fruit pastilles for themselves and embrocation for the pianists. They embarked on a musical journey that began with hymns from the Methodist hymn book but eventually transitioned to pop songs as fatigue set in. Even though one singer, Simon Poole, had to leave after just an hour due to a head injury sustained during a rugby match earlier that day, his absence did not dampen their enthusiasm. Throughout the night and into the day, these youngsters sang their hearts out - joining forces with others who joined them along the way. At its conclusion, Mr Wesley, youth club general secretary estimated that they would have sung all 900 hymns in the Methodist hymn book if given enough time. Their dedication to both music and charity is truly commendable. This snapshot from November 25th, 1975 captures not only village life but also showcases how children can come together for a common cause. It serves as a reminder of how powerful unity and passion can be when harnessed by our younger generation.
