In Outfoxing a cat, RICCI is one lap ahead. When it comes to outfoxing his unusual pal in the daily dash for a refreshing pinta, Tom-cat Cuddles knows when he's licked. Before you can say "Yoiks" 15-month-old Vixen Ricci is already there - a lap in front. Cuddles just sits patiently and awaits his turn. The two animals have been firm friends ever since Cuddles's owner, retired bricklayer Eddie Pitcher, 63, of Shafton, near Barnsley, Yorks, was given Ricci as a five-day-old cub after her mother had been killed. "Cuddles seemed to take pity on the fox," said Mr. Pitcher. May 1967 P011925

Roiney the donkey joins the flower set. Those so-called beautiful flower people people

Roiney the donkey joins the flower set. Those so-called beautiful flower people people might well have claimed Rodney the donkey as a mascot. He is a handsome fellow, certinely. And here he is suitably equipped with the hippy symbol, she flower. A plastic one, admittedly. But as it happens, the flower people are too late to claim Rodney, pictured here with 15-year-old Judy Borwick, whose father breeds donkeys at Maidenhead, Berks. An American visitor has already fallen for three-week old Rodney. August 1967 P011882

A shower in warm milk and as much of the stuff as you wish to drink. Every morning at 5 Featured 00034 Print

A shower in warm milk and as much of the stuff as you wish to drink. Every morning at 5

A shower in warm milk and as much of the stuff as you wish to drink. Every morning at 5.30 Tinker, a 13-year-old white and tan cat, comes in from a night on the tiles and hightails it straight to the cowshed. You see, Tinker is the champion mouse-catcher on Edward Hankey's farm at Shaw House, near Newton, Northumberland. She catches them by the score every week. Edward is so proud of Tinker that as he milks his cow at the crack of dawn he treats the mouse-catching moggie to a warm milk shower - and it's straight from the cow.
