Animals-Monkey: PIP the monkey looked like having a very bleak Christmas hounded out of house and home by his parents. But now, thanks to zoo keeper Peter Wait, the furry little fella has found that having festive fun is a bit of a cakewalk. His ma an pa, a pair of squirrel monkeys called Nicky and Santa, refused to look after him and he had to leave their cage at Chester Zoo. So Peter took him home and Installed him in a crib under the familys Christmas tree. Pip is bottle-fed most of the time. But hes just learning to gobble fruit on his own. And he looks as though, given half a chance, he could make a real meal of that cake. December 1978 P004099

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we see Pip the monkey experiencing a Christmas filled with joy and love, despite his initial hardships. Abandoned by his parents, Nicky and Santa, Pip was left with no choice but to leave their cage at Chester Zoo. However, thanks to the kindness of zookeeper Peter Wait, Pip found solace in a new home under the family's Christmas tree. Pip may be small and furry, but he is determined to make the most of this festive season. While he is usually bottle-fed by Peter, he is now learning to enjoy fruit on his own. Looking at him closely, it seems that given an opportunity, Pip could devour that delicious cake without hesitation. The photograph captures not only the cuteness of animals but also showcases the power of friendship and compassion. Despite being hounded out of house and home by his parents initially, Pip has found comfort in Peter's care. This image from December 1978 reminds us that even during challenging times like Christmas can be for some individuals or creatures alike; there is always room for hope and happiness when surrounded by those who truly care about us.
