EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from the 1960s, we are transported back in time to witness a remarkable fashion show held at the Women's Royal Corps camp in Richmond Park. The event, presented by a renowned bridal wear manufacturer, brought together members of the corps and professional models for an unforgettable evening. Lieutenant Anne Leafe, hailing from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, stole the spotlight as she gracefully showcased her wedding dress gifted to her by the firm. With her own nuptials just weeks away, Lieutenant Leafe radiated elegance and anticipation as she glided down the runway. However, it was top models Della Young and Maggie Griffiths who truly mesmerized attendees with their stunning ensembles. Dressed as "Military Bride" and "Nautical Bride" respectively, they exuded confidence and style. Maggie Griffiths' brocade outfit featured bell-bottom trews paired with a sailor collar while an overskirt formed a magnificent train. The atmosphere was electric as spectators marveled at these glamorous displays of fashion innovation. This photograph encapsulates not only the trends of that era but also showcases how women were breaking barriers by participating in such events alongside professionals. As we delve into this snapshot from September 26th, 1962 - forever preserved through Memory Lane Prints - we are reminded of both the timeless allure of fashion and its ability to unite individuals across different walks of life.
