Zhenfeng Pagoda, Anqing, Anhui Province, China

Pagoda located inside Yingjiang Temple on the banks of the Yangtze River in Anqing, Anhui Province, Peoples Republic of China. Zhenfeng Pagoda was constructed in 1570 in the Ming Dynasty. The multistoreyed brick pagoda has eight sides and seven storeys and is sixty meters high. Inside the pagoda there are more than six hundred Buddhist statues, fifty-one inscribed tablets and a winding flight of 168 steps. Every storey of the pagoda has balconies enclosed by stone banisters. There is evidence evidence that the pagoda served as a lighthouse for ships navigating the Yangtze at night. Date: circa 1910
