Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - New Zealand

Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - New Zealand - the Spa Taupo Hot Lakes. These cards enabled collectors to see stamps which they were unable to obtain, or afford. There is a complete set of 180 cards, some of the smaller countries had a very low printing run and are hence very rare. Used Zeiher cards are very hard to find as the embossed stamp design was not approved by postal authorities as it confused the function of the proper stamps! Date: circa 1906

EDITORS COMMENTS
Discover the enchanting world of Ottmar Zeihar's Stamp Cards from New Zealand, featuring the stunning Spa Taupo Hot Lakes. These collectible cards, produced by Zeihar around 1906, were a popular alternative for philatelists who longed to complete their stamp collections but were unable to obtain or afford certain rare stamps. With a total of 180 cards, some smaller countries and regions had very limited print runs, making them highly sought-after and valuable today. The Spa Taupo Hot Lakes card showcases the unique mineral springs, a significant natural attraction in New Zealand. The intricate embossed stamp design on the card, which resembles actual stamps, was not approved by postal authorities due to potential confusion with legitimate stamps. As a result, used Zeihar cards are exceptionally rare and difficult to find. These captivating cards offer a glimpse into the rich history of New Zealand's philately and serve as a testament to the enduring fascination with stamps and their intricate designs. The cards often include crests, coats of arms, and other regional emblems, making them not only collectible but also a visual representation of the diverse cultural heritage of New Zealand and its various regions.
