EDITORS COMMENTS
This enchanting print depicts the classic German fairy tale, "The Seven Ravens." Dating back to 1912, this traditional tale has been passed down through generations, captivating the hearts and imaginations of children and adults alike. The story begins with a young miller who has seven sons. One day, while boasting to the king about his many children, the miller makes an unfortunate mistake. He claims that he has eight sons, when in reality, he only has seven. The king, angered by the miller's deceit, orders him to bring the eighth son to be executed. Desperate to save his seventh son, the miller sends him into the forest disguised as a raven. The prince, transformed into a raven, is taken in by a kind old woman who raises him among her seven ravens. Years pass, and the prince grows up to be a strong and handsome young man. One day, a beautiful princess comes to the forest to pick berries. The prince, still in raven form, falls in love with her at first sight. He follows her back to the castle and, with the help of his six brothers, devises a plan to reveal his true identity and win the princess's hand. This tale of transformation and true love has been passed down through generations, and this beautiful print is a testament to its enduring appeal. The intricate details of the illustration, from the textured bark of the trees to the delicate feathers of the ravens, transport us back in time to a world of enchantment and wonder. This print is not only a beautiful piece of art, but also a reminder of the power of imagination and the timeless nature of fairy tales.
