Tatler front cover of Duchess of Kent in her wedding gown Featured Royal Wedding Magazine Covers Print

Tatler front cover of Duchess of Kent in her wedding gown

H.R.H The Duchess of Kent, formerly Princess Marina of Greece, pictured in her wedding dress of white and silver floral brocade designed by Captain Edward Molyneux. She achieved the distinction of being the first royal bride to wear a streamlined wedding dress, which swept from the shoulders in a curve to the train at the back of the dress. The waistline was eliminated because it would have interrupted the curve, with the high draped neckline and long, widening sleeves with cuffs of silver lame adding to the effect. Date: 1934

Mountbatten wedding 1922

Front cover of The Illustrated London News depicting Lord Louis Mountbatten escorting his new bride Lady Edwina Ashley after their marriage at St. Margarets, Westminster on 18 July 1922. The bride wears a silver dress by Reville and Rossiter and carries a bouquet of Madonna lilies and her train is attended to by bridesmaids, Princesses Cecilia and Sophia of Greece (sisters of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh). Officers of the 'Renown', the ship in which the bridegroom had voyaged with the Prince of Wales on his tours, acted as ushers at the church and formed an arch of swords under which the bridal procession passed out after the ceremony.
