The echo parakeet, also known as the Reunion parakeet, is a sauropsid, a group of reptile-descended vertebrates that includes birds. They belong to the order Psittaciformes, which includes parrots, and the family Psittacidae. These parakeets are critically endangered, with populations estimated to be fewer than 1,000 individuals. Their decline is primarily due to habitat loss, predation, and competition with invasive species.
