Cottage Goat Horned Horns Hubbard Nursery Plump Rhyme Rhymes

EDITORS COMMENTS
Old Mother Hubbard: A Timeless Tale from the World of Nursery Rhymes This charming early 20th century photograph captures the essence of the beloved nursery rhyme, "Old Mother Hubbard." In the image, we see Old Mother Hubbard, a plump and cheerful woman, dressed in her best attire, with a determined expression on her face as she sets off on an errand. The scene is set in front of a quaint, thatched-roof cottage, adorned with ivy and flowers, adding to the idyllic and nostalgic atmosphere. Old Mother Hubbard's mission was to buy her faithful dog, a large and shaggy creature, a new coat to keep him warm during the cold winter months. However, when she returned to her cottage, she was in for a surprise. Instead of finding her dog waiting obediently by the fireplace, he was nowhere to be found. In his place, she discovered her mischievous cat, perched atop the goat, which had apparently taken it upon itself to give the dog a joyride. The rhyme continues with Old Mother Hubbard's amused response, "Then she said, 'Why, dog, what have you done? You shall have your coat when you've undone the tricks that you have done.' So off went the dog, and away went he, in the middle of the night, and in the morning light, he brought back a pudding, a pie, a cake, and a dish of cheese, which Old Mother Hubbard was very pleased to see." This delightful photograph not only transports us back in time, but also serves as a reminder of the enduring appeal of nursery rhymes, which have been passed down through generations, captivating the imaginations of children and adults alike with their simple yet engaging stories.
