White Star Line, RMS Titanic. Extremely rare Harland and Wolff hardbound employees build/date book chronicling the history of the ships built at the yard. The book itself is labelled James Moore Stationer of Donegal Place Belfast and starts in 1880 titled Engine Works and is written by several generations of shipyard workers culminating in the 1950s with a number of newspaper cuttings that have been pasted into the rear of the book. The contents themselves cover the principal and less well known events over this 70+ year history of the yard?s evolution in the hands of those who recorded them. Titanic is featured on 2 April 1912 as having left the yard on her trials and on 15 April as sinking after striking an iceberg. This extremely rare Harland and Wolff hardbound employees build/date book offers an unprecedented insight into the history of the renowned White Star Line shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Spanning over 70 years, from 1880 to the 1950s, the book is titled "Engine Works" and was written by several generations of shipyard workers. James Moore Stationer of Donegal Place, Belfast, labelled the cover. Opening at pages for 1911 and 1912, we find detailed handwritten entries about the most famous vessel ever built at Harland and Wolff: RMS Titanic. The first entry, on April 2, 1912, records the ship's departure from the yard for her trials. The second entry, on April 15, 1912, sadly documents the tragic sinking of the Titanic after striking an iceberg. The book is a unique testament to the principal and less well-known events in the evolution of this important shipyard. It covers the construction of various ships, including luxury cruise liners, and the daily life and experiences of the shipbuilders. The contents are supplemented with numerous newspaper cuttings pasted into the rear of the book, providing additional context and detail.
