Jerusalem the Snow-White: A Rare Sight of the Holy City in Winter (Photograph of Jerusalem, Palestine in snow. rooftop scene. Captioned, Jerusalem the Snow white. With description) The snow-covered mountains of Palestine are a common sight every year, but it is a rarity for the City of Jerusalem to be seen blanketed in a pristine layer of snow. Such an enchanting scene unfolded on March 5, 1910, as captured in this photograph taken from the eminence of Gordon's Calvary. The snow-capped rooftops and the tranquil stillness of the city create a breathtaking contrast to the usual hustle and bustle of the Middle Eastern metropolis. The most prominent feature of our picture is the spire of the German Church of the Redeemer, standing tall against the backdrop of the snowy landscape. The weathered stone buildings and the narrow, winding streets add to the charm of this winter wonderland. The snow-covered trees and the barren hills in the distance further emphasize the serene beauty of the scene. The photograph, taken in the early 20th century, offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back in time to an era long gone. The snowfall in Jerusalem is not only a natural phenomenon but also a reminder of the changing seasons and the passage of time. This rare sight of Jerusalem in winter, with its snow-covered rooftops and the spire of the German Church of the Redeemer, is a testament to the enduring allure of the Holy City.
