EDITORS COMMENTS
This portrait captures the elegance and grace of Kitty Kinloch, Lady Brownlow, as she graced the cover of The Sketch magazine on August 24, 1927. Born Katherine Harriet Kinloch, the daughter of Brigadier-General Sir David Alexander Kinloch, 11th Baronet, CB, MVO of Glimerton, Lady Brownlow's marriage to Peregrine Francis Adelbert Cust, 6th Baron Brownlow of Belton, JP, DL, on October 18, 1927, marked the beginning of an illustrious society career. In this stunning photograph taken by the renowned Madame Yevonde, Lady Brownlow exudes an air of sophistication and poise, her delicate features framed by an intricately beaded headpiece and a flowing gown that accentuates her slender figure. The intricate detailing of her jewelry and the rich textures of her gown add to the opulence of the image, transporting us back to the glamour and elegance of the Roaring Twenties. Lady Brownlow went on to have three children, including the current 7th and present Baron Brownlow of Belton, Edward John Peregrine Cust. This iconic portrait not only serves as a testament to Lady Brownlow's beauty and status but also as a fascinating glimpse into the society and fashion of the era.
