The Royal Standard was part of the Charrington & Co. Limited, a prominent brewing company in the UK during that era. However, as of July 2018, the pub, now renamed Luxe, had closed its doors after the council revoked its late-night license. The leaseholders have since converted the premises into a gastro-pub, preserving the historic building while offering modern amenities.
