EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the historic Falcon PH, located in the heart of Ponders End, Greater London (EN3 4PX). The image, taken in the 1940s, presents a striking, face-on view of the pub's exterior. With its distinctive design and period details, the Falcon PH stands as a testament to the rich history of the area. As of July 2018, the pub, which was then owned by Macneil Ltd, was closed. However, its past holds an intriguing story. In November 2016, a planning application was submitted to demolish the pub, but the process was delayed due to an Asset of Community Value (ACV) application. The ACV application aimed to preserve the Falcon PH for the benefit of the local community. The photograph offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the Falcon PH was a vibrant and integral part of the Ponders End community. The image, though devoid of modern commercial signage, still retains an undeniable charm and allure. The Hoare and Company Limited, not mentioned in the photograph, was the original owner of the pub during the 1940s. The Falcon PH, with its rich history and potential, continues to be a subject of interest and intrigue for local historians and residents alike. This photograph serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our historical buildings and the stories they hold.
