Step back in time with this photograph of the Earl Amhurst Public House in Hackney, London, taken in the 1930s. The image presents a charming corner view of the pub, its red brick facade adorned with ornate white detailing and large, arched windows that invite passersby to step inside. The Earl Amhurst, a beloved local establishment, was located at 11-13 Hoare Street, E8 1LL, in the heart of Hackney. As of July 2018, the pub, which was once under the Hoare and Company Limited, had been renamed, but its rich history remained. However, by September 2004, the Earl Amhurst was no more, demolished to make way for new developments. This photograph, taken in 1939, offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the character and charm of a bygone era. The Earl Amhurst was more than just a pub; it was a community hub where friends gathered, stories were shared, and memories were made. This image is a testament to the enduring spirit of Hackney and its proud pub heritage.
