EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the historic Dukes Head Hotel in East Ham, London, as it stood in July 2018. The image presents a corner view of the pub, with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate white detailing. The pub, a local landmark, was once a popular watering hole for the community, serving up cold pints and hearty meals. The Dukes Head Hotel was part of the Charrington and Company Limited, a well-known brewing and pub company in London. Its rich history can be traced back to the late 19th century, when the pub first opened its doors to the public. Over the years, it has undergone various transformations, but the Dukes Head remained a cherished part of East Ham's social fabric. As of July 2018, the Dukes Head Hotel had a new role to play in the community. It had been converted into an events venue, known as Empire Events, and was now hosting weddings, parties, and other celebrations. The pub's warm and inviting atmosphere continued to draw people in, but this time, it was for special occasions and memorable moments. Despite the changes, the Dukes Head Hotel remains an essential piece of East Ham's history. Its red brick walls hold stories of generations of locals who have gathered there to share a drink, a laugh, and a moment of connection. This photograph serves as a reminder of the pub's rich past and its enduring role in the community.
