This evocative photograph captures the charming facade of the Crayfish Public House in St Pauls Cray, Greater London, as it looked in the 1960s. The image, taken by an unknown photographer for the Charrington and Company Limited, showcases the pub's distinctive red brick exterior and quaint signage. The Crayfish, located at BR5 2QE, was a beloved local establishment that had been in operation since at least 1963, as evidenced by the trading record included on the reverse of the print. Sadly, by July 2018, this piece of history had been demolished and replaced by new housing developments. The 1960s were a pivotal decade for British culture, and this photograph offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the Crayfish PH was a thriving hub of community and social activity. The image is a poignant reminder of the ever-changing landscape of urban areas and the importance of preserving our historical buildings and traditions.
