Step back in time with this photograph of the Clarence Arms, located in the historic town of Gravesend, Kent, England. The image, taken in the 1910s, showcases the pub's charming facade with its ornate brickwork and inviting entrance. The Clarence Arms, a cherished local establishment, was originally operated under the Charrington and Company Limited banner. As the back of the print reveals, the pub's trading record dates back to 1913, with the photograph being captured in 1919. Over the years, the Clarence Arms underwent various changes. In 1931, it was exchanged for the Swan at West Malling. After an extensive refurbishment, the pub was reopened in 2012, retaining its original name, The Clarence. Despite the passage of time, the Clarence Arms continues to be a beloved gathering place for the community. However, as of April 2017, the pub appeared to be out of business. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the pub's rich history and the memories it holds for generations of locals and visitors alike.
