Marguerite de Chalons, Comtesse de Tonnerre (d. 1463): A Regal Portrait in Historical Costume This print depicts Marguerite de Chalons, Comtesse de Tonnerre, a noblewoman of the 15th century. Marguerite was the wife of Olivier de Husson, chamberlain to King Charles VII of France. The image is a hand-colored lithograph by Leopold Massard, based on a figure in a tomb in the college church of Lille, which was part of Bernard de Montfaucon's extensive collection. Marguerite's elegant attire reflects the opulence and grandeur of the late medieval period.
