This handcoloured lithograph, titled "French Infantry Uniform of the Directory Era, 1797," is an exquisite and intricately detailed depiction of a French military uniform from the Directory period. The uniform, which dates back to the late 18th century, showcases the distinctive elements that defined the French military during this era. At the center of the image, we see a soldier proudly wearing the iconic bicorn hat, tilted to one side, adorned with a rosette and a cockade.
