EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "Milan Ryzl: A Pioneering Scientist at the Intersection of Biochemistry and Parapsychology" Milan Ryzl (1928-2011) was a trailblazing figure in the scientific community, holding a unique position as both a biochemist and parapsychologist. Born in Czechoslovakia, Ryzl's fascination with the unexplained led him to organize a parapsychology study group in Prague during the 1960s. However, his unconventional research interests put him at odds with the communist regime, leading him to defect from his homeland and seek refuge in the United States. In California, Ryzl found a new home at San Jose College, where he continued his work as a biochemist. His scientific background provided a solid foundation for his parapsychological investigations, which focused on the study of extrasensory perception (ESP) and psychokinesis (PK). Ryzl's groundbreaking research eventually caught the attention of the Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University, where he spent some time collaborating with other leading researchers in the field. Despite the challenges and controversies that came with his dual scientific pursuits, Ryzl remained dedicated to pushing the boundaries of knowledge. His work in both biochemistry and parapsychology contributed significantly to the scientific discourse of the 20th century, particularly in Eastern Europe and beyond. In this photograph, Ryzl is seen smiling confidently, his glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. The image captures the essence of a brilliant scientist, whose curiosity and determination led him on an extraordinary journey through the realms of science and the unknown.
