Large Bell at Daibutsu, Nara, Japan
The huge bell housed in a decorative belfry at Todai-ji, a Buddhist temple complex located in the city of Nara, Japan. The Diabutsen (or Great Buddha Hall ) is the largest wooden building in the world, and houses the worlds largest statue of the Buddha - Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu. Here, the bell is being rung - " This hell of a bell made a clang when it rang" (T Gillmor, 2014). Date: circa 1920s
