EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning photographic portrait captures the majesty and regal beauty of HM Queen Mary (of Teck), the consort of King George V, in the year 1911. Queen Mary, born on May 26, 1867, was the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Teck and became the Queen Consort of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Empress of India upon her marriage to King George V on June 6, 1893. In this portrait, Queen Mary is depicted in all her resplendent glory, adorned with an array of exquisite jewels and jewellery. The centerpiece of her regal attire is the magnificent diamond and pearl Diadem, which was made in 1820 and has been a part of the British Crown Jewels since then. The Diadem is set with large pearls and diamonds, and is topped with a cross and four pear-shaped pearls. Queen Mary also wears a pearl choker necklace, adding to her elegant and refined appearance. The Queen's dress is a masterpiece of 1910s fashion, with a fitted corseted bodice and a full, voluminous skirt. The intricate beading and embroidery on the dress add to its grandeur, making it a fitting attire for a monarch.
