This stunning 13th century Romanesque fresco, attributed to the Master of Navasa, depicts the Pantocrator, or all-powerful Christ, surrounded by the symbols of the four evangelists, known as the tetramorphs. The Pantocrator is shown in traditional Byzantine style, with a stern expression and long curly hair, while his right hand blesses the viewer and his left hand holds an open Bible. The evangelists are represented by the symbols associated with each of them: Matthew, a man with an angel; Mark, a lion; Luke, an ox or bull; and John, an eagle. This intricate and vibrant work of art is located in the Treasure Room of the Cathedral of Saint Vincent in Roda de Isabena, a small town in the Huesca province of Aragon, Spain. The evangelists and their symbols are significant in Christianism, as they are believed to have written the four Gospels of the Bible. This fresco is a testament to the rich artistic and religious heritage of the region and the enduring influence of Christianity on European art and culture.
