Norden joined the Danish navy at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, demonstrating exceptional courage and competence. In 1735, Norden was appointed as the official artist and hydrographer on a Danish expedition to the Mediterranean, led by Commodore Peter Wessel Tordenskiold. Norden's most significant work, "Voyage Autour du Monde par la Mer du Sud," was published posthumously in 1748. Tragically, Norden's life was cut short when he was killed in action during the Battle of Tönning on May 11, 1742.
