Elsie Janis
Elsie Janis (March 16, 1889 February 26, 1956), American singer, songwriter, actress, and screenwriter. Entertaining the troops during World War I immortalized her as " the sweetheart of the AEF" (American Expeditionary Force). Pictured in The Sketch at the time she was leaving London and her popular role in a revue at the Palace Theatre, The Passing Show, to go back to America. She would return periodically throughout the war and remained one of Londons favourite and highest paid actresses. Date: 1914
