Crown for Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother), Coronation 19

The crown for Queen Elizabeth, consort of King George VI, to wear at the 1937 Coronation based on a Victorian circlet and including the Koh-i-Noor diamond. Made by Garrard, it was the first to be entirely mounted in platinum. The foundation is a circlet used by Queen Victoria for Court functions and the Koh-i-Noor (seen in the illustration) is set in the front cross-patee springing from it. A drop-brilliant from the Treasury of Lahore, presented to Queen Victoria by the East India Company, is set in the top cross-patee. This gem was worn by Queen Victoria as a pendant to a diamond necklace. Date: 1937.
