The story, which originated in India and was later translated into Arabic by the renowned civil servant Ibn Al-Muqaffa, has been a significant part of Middle Eastern literature and folklore for over a thousand years. The Book of Calila and Dimna, also known as The Wisdom of Calila and Dimna or The Fables of Bidpai, is a collection of animal stories that impart moral lessons.
